About Katrina Reese

LISW-CP (SC), LCSW (NC), MSW (NC)

Life doesn't have to be so hard. I became a therapist because I too understood what it was like to be exhausted from the endless battle of trying to distract, mask, and ignore my feelings only to be left feeling increased misery and hopelessness. But then I learned that life didn’t have to be so hard. I didn’t have to view my feelings as the enemy. I didn’t have to remain feeling stuck in old toxic patterns. I found peace. Joy. Freedom. I knew that I wanted to help others on their journey of healing and creating the life they wanted and deserved.

Therapy Approaches

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy in which the person being treated recalls distressing experiences whilst doing bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movement or tapping either side of the body.
Internal Family Systems Model is an integrative approach to individual psychotherapy that combines systems thinking with the view that the mind is made up of relatively discrete subpersonalities, each with its own unique viewpoint and qualities.
Acceptance and commitment therapy is a form of psychotherapy, as well as a branch of clinical behavior analysis. It is an empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies along with commitment and behavior-change strategies to increase psychological flexibility.
Attachment-based therapy applies to interventions or approaches based on attachment theory, originated by John Bowlby. These range from individual therapeutic approaches to public health programs to interventions specifically designed for foster caretakers.
Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapy or counselling that aims at addressing the needs of children and adolescents with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other difficulties related to traumatic life events.
The Gottman Method is an approach to couples therapy that includes a thorough assessment of the couple’s relationship and integrates research-based interventions based on the Sound Relationship House Theory.
EFT approaches are based on the premise that human emotions are connected to human needs, and therefore emotions have an innately adaptive potential that, if activated and worked through, can help people change problematic emotional states and interpersonal relationships.
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach developed in part by clinical psychologists William R. Miller and Stephen Rollnick. It is a directive, client-centered counseling style for eliciting behavior change by helping clients to explore and resolve ambivalence.
